How to set up payments in Schedule.so

Payments in Schedule.so let you collect money at the time of booking instead of following up later. This is useful when a meeting should only be confirmed after payment is completed.

With this setup, the person booking pays and confirms the appointment in one flow. That makes paid bookings easier to manage and helps reduce unpaid reservations.

Connect a payment provider

Before you can collect payments in an event, you need to connect a payment provider. Go to Payments from the left sidebar in your dashboard. This is where you manage payment gateway connections in your account. On this page, you will see the supported payment providers available to you.

To create a new connection, click Setup payment gateway. You can also use Add New Connection.

Create a payment connection

When the setup form opens, start by choosing the Provider. For example, you can select Stripe. Next, enter a name for the connection. This name is only for internal use, so it should help you recognize the connection later. A clear name like Stripe Payment Gateway works well. This is the connection name you will later choose inside your event settings.

Choose the connection mode

When setting up the payment gateway, you can choose between Sandbox and Production. Sandbox is for testing. It lets you try the payment flow without charging real money. Production is for real bookings and real payments.

If you are still testing the setup, use Sandbox first. If you are ready to start collecting actual payments, use Production.

Select a Default Currency

Then select the default currency for the connection. This currency becomes part of the payment setup and can be used later inside the event.

Add your payment keys

Next, go to the Connection Information section. For Stripe, enter the required keys, such as the Publishable Key and Secret Key. You can copy these from your Stripe account and paste them into the matching fields in Schedule.so.

Once the required information is added, click Save. Your payment connection is now active and ready to use.

Enable payments in an event

After the connection is ready, go to Event Types and open the event where you want to collect payment. Inside the event, go to Advanced Settings. This is where you can turn payments on for that specific event. In the Payments section, turn on the payments toggle.

Configure the payment details

Then choose the payment connection you created earlier.

Once the connection is selected, the Currency field will be filled automatically based on your payment setup. If needed, you can change it and choose a different currency for that event.

After that, enter the Amount you want to charge. You can also add a Payment Description so the person booking understands what the charge is for. When everything is set, click Update to save the event.

How the payment flow works

Once payments are enabled for the event, the booking page will show that the event is a paid event and display the amount. When someone books the event, they first choose a date and time, then enter their booking details. After that, they click Pay to Book.

At this stage, they can review the amount, confirm the currency if more than one option is available, and complete the payment using the available payment method. Once the payment is completed, the booking is confirmed. This means the payment and the appointment confirmation happen together in one flow.
